Shock for Vicky at BforB annual awards

TukTuk Creative Marketing’s passion for helping small businesses to grow has been recognised as it wins a national award with BforB

Owner of the website design agency, Vicky Stanaway, was declared Business for Breakfast’s (BforB) Member of the Year 2017 – less than a year after joining the nationwide referral networking group.

Having entered the New Member of the Year category, the judges recognised TukTuk’s love for empowering other business owners to creatively market their companies and secretly upgraded Vicky to the most coveted prize of the evening.

Shifting up a gear

Two years after setting up her company, Vicky decided to up the speed of her trusty TukTuk and joined referral marketing organisation BforB.

The BforB network prides itself on helping small companies like TukTuk Creative Marketing to grow through referrals and building relationships with other businesses.

Only nine months after joining BforB, Vicky was delighted to be named Member of the Year at its annual awards ceremony, held at The Moat House in Stoke-on-Trent.

Nine months into the membership and Vicky is delighted to have picked up the Member of the Year award at the annual awards at The Moat House in Stoke-on-Trent.

Vicky said: “I am delighted that not only did I win an award, but the judges recognised my level of commitment and bumped me up to Member of the Year. It was quite a surprise on the night after thinking I had been unsuccessful with my entry.”

“I hear only so often “referral marketing doesn’t work”. “I am a small business, how on earth can I help all of those businesses in the room?”

“While I didn’t have concerns over whether referral marketing could work for TukTuk Creative Marketing, I was worried whether I would be able to help the businesses around the table to grow.

“Referral marketing is not for everyone, let’s face it, it is hard work! A meeting every fortnight with the alarm sounding at 5.30am, meeting with members in-between meetings, thinking of other people’s businesses as well as your own – it’s tough, but so is business.

“But I love it. As a small business I get to engage with other owners who are facing the same challenges and together we are growing and learning.”

In support

Fellow members were in total support of Vicky’s application and had very kind things to say.

Creative copywriter and owner of Market Avenue Ltd Anna Woolliscroft said: “Vicky is one of the most naturally creative people I have ever met. Not only is she full of innovative ideas that will enhance the branding and design elements of a business, but she has the ability to instantly see improvements across an entire portfolio and to stay ‘on message’.

“Vicky and I have already collaborated on several projects that required copy and design for online and offline requirements. She is a pleasure to work with and it’s great to have a colleague to bounce ideas off, share future plans in confidence, and to know that any critique and suggestions are 100% honest and considered.”

Transformational Coach Jo Cook of Bright Butterfly said: “Vicky has been supportive of my business in many ways. Not only by doing what she does best in providing creative solutions, but also offering sound and practical advice, and a seamless service.

“Vicky goes out of her way to ensure her client’s objective is met, providing ideas and ways forward. She listens and advises and, when needed, can help them to take a step in the right direction. I have been impressed with her level of understanding concerning my business and the solutions she has suggested to support it.

“I joined BforB Stoke Friday at the same time as Vicky and it has been a pleasure working alongside her. She brings energy, focus, humour and warmth to the group.  She is very generous with her time and is great at bringing connections together and making introductions/recommendations.

“I see Vicky as a vital team member of my business.”

And for the other winners

Business for Breakfast Staffordshire were quite noticeably the high performers of the evening, with other members of the Staffordshire network being recognised for their achievements.

Referral Master went to Pam Allen of PA Today;  Mat and Kelly Nation from Personalised Nation Ltd picked up the Carol Fittes Award; Executive Team of the Year went to the Lichfield group; Jenna Pass of M-Viron picked up Coordinator of the Year; Moderator of the Year was presented to Karl Lehmann; JSW Insurance Services’s Olivia Brazier was Runner up Host of the Year and Jonathan Andrew from Baswich Business Services was Runner Up Member of the Year.

Here’s to another successful nine months! We hope that the relationships we’ve developed continue to grow – along with the TukTuk empire!
