Massive shout out for Vicky’s 10k charity efforts

TukTuk Creative Marketing owner Vicky Stanaway has put her best foot forward to raise more than £240 for charity – despite doing no training for her first 10k run!

In March, Michelle Whittaker was looking for runners to take part in the Stafford 10k on behalf of the Sienna May Foundation. There seemed no better time for Vicky to be inspired into donning her trainers once again, pounding the streets and rediscovering her love for running.

Unfortunately, time wasn’t on Vicky’s side and without the training schedule she had anticipated, she faced the challenge as a pure novice to raise much needed funds for the worthy cause.

On 24 September Vicky joined 3,000 others runners on the start line of the Stafford 10k – the same weekend as she picked up the BforB Member of the Year award.

Vicky said: “I always think what’s the point of sponsoring people if they are going to enjoy doing the challenge. I can promise you, after two weeks in Greece beforehand and absolutely no training I did not enjoy this challenge.

“I am delighted I managed to raise so much money for such a great cause my mental target was to get to £100. I was even on brand by the end of the race as my face was TukTuk purple.

“It has to be the hardest thing I have ever mentally done, but chuffed to say I did it and came in at a great time of 1:05:06.”

The Sienna May Foundation supports bereaved parents who have lost a child under the age of five by funding private counselling sessions. The charity was set up by Michelle and her husband Nick after their daughter Sienna lost her fight against illness at only 15 weeks old.
